Weeping Willows

Weeping Willows

Weeping Willow bends
flowing branches full of leaves
cry into creek beds

Big Moon

Swallowed up in your russet beauty
super sized I gasp with universal joy
behold heavenly bodies caught in
magnetic revolutions as I devour my
Mac with fries and a coke

George Zimmerman

Every time I look at George Zimmerman’s face
I want to grab him by his lapels
stare into his eyes and ask him what the hell
was he thinking

I think he is a racist and he killed Trevon
and thought he could get away with it
I hope he doesn’t
was he thinking

Trevon was probably a haughty kid
he didn’t cow tow to Zimmerman
he might have responded to attack
with attack but he didn’t have to die

Zimmerman was out of line and he
deserves to pay for the murder of
a young kid just perhaps being wise
a kid with so much life ahead of him

What was Zimmerman thinking
why did a kid have to die
for no reason at all
except perhaps for not obeying

Dinner

I mixed apple cider vinegar
with hot sauce to serve over
lightly steamed swiss chard

I toasted red quinoa in olive oil
added water and brought to a boil
simmered until done

King salmon brushed with olive oil
fresh herbs sprinkled over pink meat
grilled to rare perfection

A fine accompaniment
Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand
crisp and delicious

What is the point of my pretty tale
to relish finer things that bring pleasure
in a disgustingly fucked up world

Where did we get so lost
people die in tribal wars
starve and suffer with disease

The imbalance of resources
and opportunity that leaves
too many suffering

I want to mix apple cider vinegar
with hot sauce to serve over
lightly steamed swiss chard

I want to feed the world
I don’t know how
I want to fix everything

Dimple

Dimple

There is always a dimple
in what should be simple
I put on my wimple

go crawling
through brawling
I’m calling

for simple
with a dimple
in my wimple

Andrea

Andrea

First storm belts us
bands sweep through
tornado warnings
windswept rain pelts
on and off all day
thunder explodes
it is only June

Prairie

Prairie

Halls swirl
rumble motion
vault ceilings

I nimble on
limbs
crave rapture

each inhale
on the train
I swallow

Song of Forgetting

Song of Forgetting

I choose to forget things you said
that were not true, did not happen
sometimes I wonder at my sanity

I want you to know I've given up
I'm on your side completely
I will not hold you to my reality

you do not know, you do not get it
it isn't enough to tell you I quit
I have to quit and quit and quit

I'm getting better at remembering
as we dance together and apart
in this Song of Forgetting
